Spark Tester
A quick and simple way of determining the condition of the ignition coil by judging the sparks color and arc jump.
Applicable on coil-on-plug (COP), coil-near-plug (CNP), double ended coil-on-plug (DECOP) or wasted sparks and conventional ignition coils.
Operations:
Adjust the spark tester gap to 20mm (normally) and notice the spark produced. Straight and violet blue in color indicates the ignition coils is NORMAL. If the coil has aged or defects, the spark is either red or curved in shaped.
For higher compression ratio engines, bigger spark gaps are needed. In order to get better results, the tester spark gap needs to be adjusted when doing the test.
